Lithuania’s readiness index for overcoming risks

The KPMG international consulting company published its annual rating of countries “Risk Overcoming Readiness Index” for 2013, where Lithuania ranked 1st in Eastern Europe and Central Asia and 17th in the world.

Compared with the change in the index in 2012, Lithuania jumped from 19th to 17th place, and in the overall rating ranked higher than neighboring countries, including Poland, Spain, Italy and Greece. In addition, Lithuania ranks third among countries with economic development higher than the average level.

The KPMG readiness index covers a total of 90 countries. It reflects the country’s willingness to adapt to external shocks and abrupt changes and the ability to suppress and overcome the growing economic risks that affect long-term sustainable economic growth.

Among 71 countries (excluding the most developed countries in the world), in general, the business readiness to overcome possible risks is high, Lithuania ranked 9th in the rating, while the willingness of the authorities in general to different types of risks and their overcoming ranks 11th, and the readiness of the Lithuanian society takes 1 place.

Among all the countries analyzed by KPMG, Lithuania took the 17th place, Russia – 62nd place, Ukraine – 67, Bangladesh – 54.

This index was headed by such countries as Singapore, Sweden and Qatar.
