Who is exempted from paying state fees for issuing / replacing a residence permit?
Services provided to foreigners by the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania:
- Temporary residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania (acceptance, examination, decision and issuance (refusal) of an application for the issuance / replacement of a temporary residence permit, extension of a temporary residence permit);
- Permanent residence permit of the Republic of Lithuania in the European Union (adoption, consideration, decision-making and issuance (refusal) of an application for a residence permit, change of residence permit);
- A card of temporary or permanent residence of a family member of a Union citizen (adoption, verification, decision making and issuance (refusal to issue) an application for temporary or permanent residence for a family member of a Union citizen);
- Certificate of the right of a citizen of an EU Member State to temporary or permanent residence in the Republic of Lithuania. Each type of service is subject to state duty, the size of which can be found on the website of the Department of Migration.
Citizens who are exempted from paying the state fee for issuing and replacing a temporary residence permit, and changing a residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania:
- Participants of the opposition (resistance) from 1940 to 1990;
- Persons under 16 years old;
- Foreigners granted asylum or temporary protection in the Republic of Lithuania, and members of his family who come with him;
- A person under the age of 18 whose guardian is a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania;
- Persons of Lithuanian descent or the right to restore citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania, and their family members;
- An alien who cannot be returned to a foreign state, deported from the Republic of Lithuania or whose expulsion from the Republic of Lithuania has been suspended;
- A foreigner who cannot leave due to a dangerous state of the body and needs immediate medical attention; – Foreigners who intend to study, participate in continuing education courses or vocational training, if they are admitted to study at a higher educational institution on an ongoing basis;
- Foreigners who are allowed to stay in the Republic of Lithuania because they are or were victims of trafficking or illegal employment and cooperate with the preliminary investigation body or court in combating trafficking in persons or crimes related to trafficking in persons, as well as when a minor committed labor activities.
Citizens who are exempted from paying the state fee for issuing and replacing a permanent residence permit, as well as changing a permanent residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania:
- Opposition members from 1940 to 1990;
- Persons under the age of 16;
- An alien who is granted asylum or temporary protection in the Republic of Lithuania, and his family members who come with him.
