Failure to fulfill the obligation to declare one’s place of residence or providing false declaration data carries administrative liability under Article 530 of the Administrative Offenses Code.
The Migration Department strictly enforces this requirement, and applications to change residence permits will not be accepted from third-country nationals who have not declared their residence in Lithuania. Moreover, non-compliance may raise questions about the revocation of temporary residence permits.
Foreigners have two options for declaring their residence:
- They can do so at the Migration Department when submitting an application for a residence permit.
- Alternatively, they can declare their residence at the eldership or municipality within 1 month from the date of receiving the issued residence permit.
It’s important to emphasize that foreigners must submit declarations to the eldership or municipality, not to the Migration Department, when changing their place of residence in Lithuania.
To prevent any complications for companies, the Migration Department urges foreigners and the companies employing them to ensure compliance with this obligation.
